The landscape for those who love to watch movies is ever-changing. It’s easy to lose track of what movies are stalled in production, which are coming soon and which have already come out. You may see a preview and think “I’ll have to see that when it comes out on DVD,” but then you forget all about it and feel lost on your next trip to the movie store. There are many exciting new movies coming soon to a theater near you. The steam-punk dystopia, “9″ promises to entertain audiences with its complex computer animations and thrilling storyline of a world overrun by vengeful machines. Action/horror lovers will want to see “Whiteout,” a suspenseful and mysterious movie starring Kate Beckinsale, involving homicides and “something lurking” in Antarctica. Matt Damon stars in “The Informant,” the true-life story of Mark Whitacre, America’s largest whistle-blower.
Movies news also lists new Blu Ray discs that are coming soon. Darren Aronofsky’s masterpiece, “Requiem For A Dream” will be out on Blu Ray this month, with added filmmaker commentaries from Director Darren Aronofsky and Director of Photography Matthew Libatique, a behind-the-scenes featurette, interviews with author Hubert Selby Jr and nine deleted scenes. “Gladiator” will have over four hours of bonus material and will also include an extended version of the motion picture. “Braveheart” also finally arrives in Blu Ray format and proves that it was worth waiting for with loads of interviews, interactive timelines, battle strategy analysis, historical segments and featurettes. “The Watchmen” holds a wonderland of special bonus features, including a first-of-its-kind “Maximum Movie Mode,” which allows the director to stand before you, pointing at two screens behind him — one playing the feature and one showing a behind-the-scenes shot. Trivia, comic comparisons, Watchmen bookmark-able focus points (attached to featurettes), graphic novel discussions, a vigilante documentary and new download content are all on this packed Blu Ray.
Once fans get a taste of a truly fantastic movie, they’re usually clamoring for more. Unfortunately, it looks as though the planning of “Jurassic Park 4″ died with Michael Crichton. However, Hugh Jackman has agreed to produce “The Hobbit” in a two-part movie akin to the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, which will be coming soon. Also, there is another installment of “Resident Evil” coming out in August 2010, starring Milla Jovovich and Johnny Messner. Sequel upcoming movies are also in the works for the following top movies: The Italian Job, I Am Legend, Beverly Hills Cop 3, National Treasure 2, Cars, Toy Story 2, Shrek 4, Night at the Museum, Jeepers Creepers 2, Transporter 2, Super Troopers, Ice Age 2, The Grudge 2, Ghost Rider and The Mummy 2.
