How Can I Book a Celebrity?

by tkwriter on September 1, 2010

When you opt to book a celebrity for your event you take on a massive challenge which you might come to regret, but only temporarily. But first take a moment to establish whether you definitely need to hire one. You could be throwing away money in fees and expenses if you hire a guest who will bring nothing to the event.

Don’t be turned off the idea entirely, it is true that a well chosen celebrity could give your event a real boost, it is simply a case of being absolutely certain that you require one.

Once you are absolutely certain about hiring a celebrity, start thinking about money. If you don’t manage to stay within your budget other area of your event may suffer, such as catering or music.

Now, think about the type of celebrity you’d like to have at the event. They could be an actor, a TV presenter, radio DJ, politician or even business person; it really depends on the event and the guests. Make up a shortlist of the people you are considering and make contact with an agent to begin the process.

Armed with your shortlist, an agency will tell you who is and isn’t available and at what price. It isn’t cheap to book a celebrity but with a bit of luck you might be able to negotiate on price. When you have come to an agreement the agency will draw up a contract, you will make payment and you can move on to organising other parts of your event.

It is important to remember that Christmas time is the peak time of year for parties and more people book a celebrity around Christmas and new year than any other time. Always book early to avoid disappointment for you and your guests.
