We live in a society that’s increasingly geared towards judging people purely based on the way they appear especially women. What kind of effects does this have on the self-esteem of people? Even those who are very good looking still feel a desire to use tanning lotion to appear like they have a real tan. In fact, tanning lotions can be beneficial when compared to actual tans, which give you, cancer at the price of looking good. Why is it that so many people feel the need to alter their appearance in order to please others?
Women who are too interested with their appearance can often go too far, there’s no doubt about that. You can just take a peek at some of the plastic surgery disasters that have occurred over the years, as celebrities who have become concerned about sagging cheeks and worry-lines appearing have wanted to alter the chemical compounds in their visage. Sometimes, when it’s done subtly, this can create a nicer looking, though still unreal, face. At other times, when the surgery goes too far, the results can look nothing short of bizarre. It’s often the women who get this much surgery who think they still need more, as they’re unwilling to acknowledge that no amount of technology can stop them avoiding the fact that they’re getting old.
There’s no doubt that in this era we’re obsessed with youth. It’s believed that to be young and free is the best time we can possibly have. Yet why is this so? Are young people actually better than any other? Well, it’s definitely so that they have more fun, as they likely haven’t got the kinds of concerns older people tend to have, and they’re quite far from worrying about their own life or taking care of some kids. But the main reason is that they have a larger amount of disposable income.
Since teenagers and twenty-somethings often live at home, don’t have kids to pay for and maybe don’t have their own home or car, they’ll have plenty of money if they’ve got a job, or generous parents. No wonder, then, that the groups selling items that wouldn’t be wanted among those looking to save their money can aim for this group.
Teenagers and those in their youth have had their minds altered into believing that it’s most vital to spend on expensive products in order to be cool, and many of those who are older have been convinced that the only way to be a worthy member of society is to be young.
It’s a strange thing that’s developed, and one that isn’t based in reality. There’s no doubt that a lot can be learned from the older people of the world, and a deeper respect for those who have seen more than us will mean a richer and more meaningful life. Since it’s not money-making for anyone to mention this, though, don’t expect to hear it in a TV commercial anytime in the future.
