The Bridal Veil Tradition

by tkwriter on September 15, 2009

One of the longstanding bridal traditions is the Bridal Veil. The use of the Bridal Veil is one of the oldest practices during weddings. Along with the oldest bridal practices, wearing a Bridal Veil is still apparent. Whenever the brides have their gowns designed, the veil is usually included in the plan. Story has it that the veil’s purpose is to ward away the evil spirits that may do harm before she is delivered to her husband. What is represented in the veil is the respectability of the bride. Through this, she assures the husband and his family that she is decent. The lifting of the veil suggests possession of the groom over his wife and her presentation to his family.
