Crafting The Perfect Diaper Bags

by tkwriter on January 18, 2009

No other segment of contemporary parenting fashion has changed as dramatically as designer diaper bags in the last few years. From dowdy to glamorous, the typical baby bag has undergone a quiet revolution thanks to the attention by Hollywood’s A-List celebrities. Nothing makes customers like personal recommendations by celebrities, so when Angelina Jolie, Heidi Klum, Britney Spears and Cameron Diaz all began touting designer diaper bags, the market for these items literally doubled overnight. Is there real value in today’s bags though, once you strip away all the celebrity appeal? In short, the popular appeal is based not only on new design elements, but also the extreme customizability of these diaper bags.

The designer diaper bags I looked at included Storksak, Mia Bossi, Nest, and Fleurville brands. The first thing I discovered is that all these bags are called “designer” bags, yet they are not all priced at high designer prices, but rather cover a wide spectrum of prices. What seems to make these bags all “designer” is not the price tag but the level of value the bags provide, including a massive focus on accessories and utility. Case in point: the Nest Whipstitch bag, popularized by Heidi Klum, comes with half a dozen pockets for easy-to-reach storage, and is made to attach to a stroller without fuss. How bizarre: is it true that Hollywood’s A-List is promoting products that are truly valuable, and not just fashionable? When it comes to designer diaper bags, it looks like our leading ladies are thrifty and interested in the very best for their babies.
